about

If you pay attention to lyrics, the Wallflower theme in popular songs like “Got To Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye might come to mind. Synth and post-punk aficionados might agree that “I Don’t Like Music” by Telex and “Party Fears Two” by The Associates expand the topic even further.

Eugene Tambourine also writes from the standpoint of the stand-offish-looking-in; hopeful but uncertain even after exulting in a favorite song (in this case “Hold Tight” by Change).

Fans of these timeless club sounds will connect the dots in “The Stars Are Ours”, North Satellite’s latest single. Eugene reworks his original arrangement with a nod to New York’s Fun House club of the mid ‘80s. Across the Atlantic, Idjut Boy Conrad McDonnell renders a groove which evokes the sonic landscapes of the Orb if they were to shimmy their way through a Carnival festival setting.

The original version can also be heard on the North Satellite album “Past Life Half-Lived” on El Triángulo Records
